Atlanta-based Helikon Media - a brand consultancy launched by Terrence Burns and George Hirthler during the Sydney Olympic Games-played a key role in the successful communications strategy implemented by Beijing 2008 in the critical closing months of its bid.

Helikon Media wrote and designed the key executive summary of Beijing's vision for the 2008 Olympic Games.

Two months after opening its doors for business last October, Helikon was recruited by Dr. David Chu of Hong Kong to help the Beijing Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO) assess its communications strategy and propose enhancements to the bid effort. As part of "Team Chu", Helikon helped Beijing craft a new communications architecture, refine its key messages, launch a global media relations program, develop a compelling presentation for the Evaluation Commission and create a powerful final presentation for Moscow on July 13th.

Helikon's Managing Principals, George Hirthler and Terrence Burns, have collectively served the Olympic Movement in brand communications for more than 20 years, providing creative and marketing services for a variety of bid committees, organizing committees, sponsors and the IOC. Hirthler has served as a communications strategist for five Olympic bid campaigns-Atlanta 1996, Istanbul 2000, Stockholm 2004, Klagenfurt 2006 and Beijing 2008. In 1998, Burns led the development of the International Olympic Committee's first global brand and communications program after managing a successful Olympic sponsorship program for Delta Air Lines in the 1996 Atlanta Games.

While Helikon provides brand marketing and communications services to a broad range of corporate clients, the Olympic Movement remains a passion for the Principals and staff of the young company.
